When you find that product that just WORKS? That sweet, sweet feeling of relief?

Autism products can be hit or miss- and when they're a hit, we NEED TO SHARE!

Making your lives easier, through trial and error, here are products we LOVE!

Balloons Hanging in the Street

Summer 2024

Check our our family's list of sensory-friendly items that are a staple for every summer!

The Girl Who Thought in Pictures

thegirlswho.jpeg

This is "Teacher's Pick" for a reason, so colorful and fun! Based on a true story, this book is informative for kids AND adults. Normalizes and shows how AMAZING brains with Autism can be! Side note- if you have not watched the movie about Dr. Temple Grandin- stop what you are doing and watch it now! 10/10

All My Stripes

allmystripes.jpeg

For kids who are more aware of their disability, this book is SO helpful! The little zebra is learning how to accept and love what is different about himself, and it's incredibly relatable! Plus its got a cute little note from the author to the parents at the end, which is such a special touch.

Masterpiece

masterpiece.jpeg

So beautifully written, for both kids and adults. This book has a great perspective on Autism, and how diverse it can be!

My Big Brother Ben

mybigbrotherben.jpeg

We LOVE this book. We bought it for my son to take into his class to teach his friends about his sister with Autism. The way it explains how it is to interact with a child with autism from the eyes of another child, is SO good. Perfect for little kiddos.

OmieBox Bento Box

OmieBox Bento Box

The built-in and removable thermos in this lunchbox was a GAME CHANGER for us. Expecting Avery to carry a separate container for her warm home-lunch was a joke, so after searching high and low, I have found NOT ONE problem with this lunchbox!

Britax Highpoint 2-Stage Booster Carseat

Carseat.jpeg

For those kiddos who like to "spaghetti noodle" out the bottom of their booster in the car to escape! We paid a little extra for the most underrated feature. The strap that goes between the legs is compatible with your car's seatbelt and keeps those kiddos in there, woohoo for safety! We will be in this seat for a WHILE!

Drone Home

Drone home.jpeg

This GAME. Firstly, if you have a space-loving kid, it's a no brainer. Secondly, the game is extremely straight forward, easy cause and effect, and the drone ACTUALLY FLIES. Does it get any more fun than that? Do yourself a favor, get it.

Shockproof -Handle Stand iPad Case

Ipad case.jpeg

We have been using these iPad cases for YEARS. They have never failed us! Protected screens? Happy parents.

Wonderfold Wagon

wonderfold.jpeg

I cannot rave about this wagon enough. Its worth the price point with harnesses on each seat, keeping that kiddo in there safe and sound, a push handle to eliminate having to lug a wagon behind you, and huge wheels that are good on just about any terrain. Plus it's pretty too.... win, win!

Carpeted Platform Swing

platform swing.HEIC

We mainly went with this swing because it is Avery's favorite at school and at Occupational Therapy treatments. We have evaded MANY meltdown with the use of this swing- the long rope and large surface area makes for the perfect and most relaxing type of sensory swing!

Compression Sheets

compression sheet.jpeg

If you have a sensory kiddo who loves compression, this is the product for you, really! These sheets fit like a tube-top around your kid's mattress and has a spandex-type resistance to movement, making them feel a gentle squeeze while they sleep- does it get any better than that?

Sensory Body Sock

body sock.jpeg

If you have a sensory kiddo, you've probably already seen these around. Avery's body sock is great for long and rainy days at home where she NEEDS to get some wiggles out!

SlimySand

sensory sand.jpeg

Throw out ALL of your sensory sand and slime in your house and GET THIS! By far the best we have tried... and we have tried ALOT... let my mistakes guide you. This stuff doesn't break up into tiny specs and get all over, it doesn't leave any residue on the hands, and it's not sticky! We love that- just get it. Then get it in another color.

A Little Spot of Emotion

emotion spots.jpeg

Avery's occupational therapist introduced these to her when she was still BARELY verbal. Man, what a difference these little things made! There are tons of emotion regulation products out there- but I promise these little spots with their accompanied book will not disappoint!

Children's Woven Swing

Blue swing.jpeg

We use this swing on our tree in our backyard. It is easily adjustable in regards to how high off the ground it swings and how deep the seat goes. It's also weather resistant, which is important for us Pacific Northwesters!

Giant Bean Bag Chair

bean bag.jpeg

We keep this is our living room to use as a "crash pad." I wanted something that would work to crash and jump onto all day, but also match my "aesthetic" that I have in my home. I wasn't super excited about having a bright blue crash pad in the middle of my living room, that's for sure!

AirTag Bracelet

airtag bracelet.jpeg

This bracelet was really the lesser of the evils when it came to tracking Avery while we were out and about. She does not like any foreign objects on her body- no necklaces, bracelets, bags, or clunky shoes even! This band is lightweight and can be tucked under her pant leg on her ankle to be as discreet as possible, thank goodness.

Feeding Chair

Avery chair.jpeg

Avery needed a high chair that would grow with her, and had a harness to make dinner time for the family easier. This was the perfect find for just that. Also, the sturdy, wooden legs make it almost impossible to tip- phew! The footrest and tray are removable, and the seat is adjustable to suit any age from toddler to young adult.

Carnation Breakfast Essentials

Breakfast.jpeg

I know this one is strange- but when your kid only eats like three different things, you take the win where you can! As soon as she started drinking milk we started on these chocolate mix-in packets that provide her with everything she needs to start her day off with a full belly of nutrients! Makes my mommy-heart feel MUCH better. Plus, she is convinced its just chocolate milk... hehe

Weighted Vest

weighted vest.jpeg

Slap this sucker on your kid when they are outside playing and you'll have one tired kid for sure! When Avery goes to jump on the trampoline we put her weighted vest on her and she jumps away, getting out all of those wiggles on the way! Compression = Happy sensory kiddo.

Electric Blanket

electric blanker.jpeg

One of Avery's calming reinforcements is anything hot. We have at least one electric blanket plugged in and turned in on the couch at any given moment! Then she knows she has a place she can relax, unwind, and maybe even take a nice snooze!

Hammock Sensory Swing

hammock swing.jpeg

One of our favorite sensory swings! The structure of it gives me peace of mind that Avery won't just flop out of it, and the cone-shape provides a nice enclosed area for when she needs to regulate. Love it!

Color Sorting Bears

color sorting.jpeg

Avery picked up on these pretty quickly- the super cool thing is we didn't even know she had the skill, she just busted it out one day! They also keep her quiet and busy for more than ten minutes- what more can you ask for?

Potty Training Toilet

potty training.jpeg

We chose this little potty because when it comes to our kiddos, they are SO black and white! We didn't want a potty that was too abstract, and this one looks exactly like the one mom and dad uses, complete with the toilet flushing sound! Even the consistency in how the potty looks is important, who would have known, right?

Potty Training Alarm

pottytraining2.jpeg

This alarm was recommended to us by Avery's occupational therapist. The sensor sits inside the diaper and alerts you to when it feels any moisture, reminding your kiddo its time to go potty! Great for nighttime bedwetters, as that alarm will wake them up for SURE.

Buckle Boss

buckleboss.jpeg

Avery requires one of these on the bus, and we use it in our own car for long car rides. This covers the release button on the car's seatbelt, preventing the kiddo from escaping their seatbelt. It comes with a long key-like object to release the buckle by an adult as well, overall it just gives a great peace of mind!

Powdered Children's Tylenol

tylenol.jpeg

I know this one seems silly- but when Avery gets a fever and seems to taste ANYTHING we try to hide in her juice, these do the trick. Thank goodness for a mix-in solution!

Noise Cancelling Headphones

headphones.jpeg

If you know, you know! These are by far the best headphones we have ran into, super sturdy, fold small, and don't hurt our kiddo's ears. Ours have some miles on them, that's for sure!

Bubble Lamp

bubble lamp.jpeg

We don't have one of these in our house, but I'm working on it! Avery is OBSESSED with the one at school. We have a couple of friends with one of these in their homes and it is always a hit, never any bad reviews from the kiddos.

Tap Lights

tap lights.jpeg

They have a whole wall of these at the Portland airport and they are a sensory WIN. Pop these suckers on the wall and they cast the perfect glow for bedtime, and the kids can control them, which we all know they love!

Liquid Sensory Tiles

sensory tiles.jpeg

These tiles are even fun for adults! They are super lightweight, making them easy for the kids to pick up and move around, and I have never seen a kid turn down hours of playtime with them. Ive seen the tiles in people's homes, at the school, in therapy offices, and even at the children's museum- and Avery is pulled to them, ever time.

Peanut Ball

peanut ball.jpeg

When given the choice, Avery will chose the peanut ball over the regular ball every time. I have no idea why, and every kid is different, but we have seen nothing but awesome come from time on the peanut ball, so ill take it!

Sequin Shift Pillow

sequinshift.jpeg

I'm sure you've seen these everywhere, we LOVE a good sequin shift moment. Avery has pillows shirts, blankets, notebooks, TONS of things with shifting sequins, I support the obsession.

Kids Tent

kids tent.jpeg

Avery gets to hang out in one of these tents in the sensory room at her school- most of the time its where to goes to excuse herself for a nap! There is something so calming about this tent being patternless, no loud patterns, we forget how important that is sometimes.

Weighted Blanket

weighted blanket.jpeg

Avery's weighted blanket has a similar effect on her as the compression sheets. Any kind of pressure or weight calms her down almost immediately. Lets be honest, Avery's weighted blanket was like a gateway drug for needing MORE weighted blankets!

Microwavable Stuffed Animal

microwave pet.jpeg

By now you know how much Avery loves ANYTHING hot. It's electric blankets at home she prefers, but there are certain times she can't be hooked up to an outlet! At school where they can't have anything electric and at night in bed when a heated blanket just isn't safe, cue the microwavable stuffed animal! By the time the heat wears off, she's already asleep, works for us!

Fabric Band Goggles

googles2.jpeg

These goggles have saved us from SO many meltdowns. Avery loves to wear goggles, but hates to have her hair pulled every time they come off or need to be adjusted. The fabric strap on these goggles eliminate that stress, and make swimming a much more comfortable experience for those sensory kiddos.

Fabric Chewy Necklaces

neckalces.jpeg

Avery gave up chewing a while ago, but I've definitely got chewy PTSD- if your kiddo is drooling through shirt after shirt or ruining the collars of all of them, give one of these a try! They are pretty sturdy and can be easily washed.

Carseat Chest Clips

carseat clips.jpeg

When you have a kiddo who can contort themself into some kind of circus performer and wiggle their arms up and out of the carseat harness- you need these. Attach them to the chest straps above the main clip and viola! You've solved your escape artist problem!
